This piece of petrified wood was found by our family near our home in southern Oregon. The cabochon’s edges are polished smooth while the faces have been kept rough to accentuate the wood grain in the stone.

The stone is framed fancifully into a doorway suitable for a fairy home! A leafing vine curls up one side, sheltering a napping roly poly. The curled up roly poly fits snugly in a nook left by some chips in that corner of the stone. Two more isopods crawl up the opposite side of the frame, and the piece is topped off with a custom bail featuring two tiny shelf mushrooms.

All components are entirely hand-fabricated from 0.925 sterling sheet metal and wire. Measures 5.7 cm from the top of the bail to the base, and 3.3 cm at its widest point.
