Tentacles On Applegate Jade
Tentacles On Applegate Jade
This deep green pool is wrapped in copper tentacles with tiny silver suckers! The cabochon is cut from an “applegate jade” (actually bowenite) stone found by our family near our home in southern Oregon. This gemmy, deep green stone can appear almost black in some light, but is translucent when back-lit and has inclusions that make it attract a magnet.
Tentacles look like they are piercing or grabbing the solid silver back plate and form the bail from which the piece is hung. This is a prototype piece and there is a small crack in the largest tentacle. It is sturdy, but if you look (very!) closely it is visible.
Measures 3.9 cm at its tallest point, and 3.0 cm at its widest. Silver is 0.925 sterling and copper is pure.
