Roiling Moss Agate Oceanscape

Roiling Moss Agate Oceanscape
This thick, high-domed cabochon was cut from botryoidal moss agate found by our family in the Maury Mountain Agate beds in central Oregon. The surface bots were left un-polished, highlighting their uncanny resemblance to the ocean roiling from a disturbance beneath.
The stone is set and framed by hand-fabricated twirling tentacles, complete with suckers. Their tapering length has been incorporated into the bail and they wrap to the back side of the piece, gripping the round frame. The back is finished and braced with kelp blades.
All metal is 0.925 sterling silver. Due to the nature of the setting, the stone can shift very slightly although it is firmly held. Measures 4.2 cm from the top of the bail to the base, 3.7 cm at its widest point, and a whopping 1.5 cm deep.
