Manzanita Leaf Necklace Or Clothing Pin

$60.00

Whiteleaf manzanitas are an integral part of the forest landscape around our southern Oregon home! They are important fodder for pollinators since they bloom when there are few other blossoms available. The berries resemble little apples, which is what manzanita means in Spanish, and were historically used by Native Americans for cider, jelly, and medicine. The plant has come to represent resilience, in part because its seeds require the heat from fire to stimulate germination.

These silver manzanita leaves are made using leaves from the forest floor around our southern Oregon home as models.

Leaves are cut and textured from sheet metal, and finished with a dusting of powdered silver to mimic the surface of the real leaves. The central vein is hand-shaped from wire and securely soldered in place.

Necklaces are textured on both sides, and will come on an 18 inch cord-- please let us know if you would prefer a different length.

Pins are designed with one textured side and a smooth face to lay against the fabric. The pins are quite sharp and twisted for a bit of extra sparkle and hardness. The pin is similar in thickness to a standard lapel pin, so these should work in similar fabrics-- they could adorn a favorite hat, shoulder bag, jacket lapel, t-shirt, anything!

Each leaf is unique, and varies slightly in size, just like their organic counterparts!

Solid 0.925 sterling silver.
